THERE IS MORE TO COME OUT

DAY 24/366

Reference: Mark 4:1-20

In the Parable of the sower we read, the soils appear to have been presented in order of proximity to fruitfulness. The one thing we could agree on in this instance is that the seed was not a problem because it was the seem seed cast abroad, the soil on which it fell was the area of interest.

The rocky ground could boast to the path, ‘my seed sprung up’. The thorny ground would then have said to the rocky ground ‘my seeds developed shoots’. The biggest of boasting would have come from the good soil, ‘my seed yielded grain’. Even in the good soil, the yields differed: thirty, sixty and hundred. Each higher ranked would boast bigger.

Against a non-standardised yardstick, each of the first three soils may have had reason to boast. However, the solid foundation of the Lord stands sure (2 Tim 2:19), his standards remain the yardstick. As far as seed is concerned, therefore, the yardstick is for them to bear fruits that last (John 15:16). Nothing less.

Even in bearing fruit, there is room to mature, room for more – to bear thirty, through sixty to a hundred. The believer’s path is one ever shining brighter, and for that reason, there will always be capacity for more. You surely haven’t reached the limit of your God-given capacity, so keep bearing fruit.
