DAY 20/366
Reference: 2 Samuel 2:1-27

Three times in today’s text, David says “how the mighty have fallen”. When we refer to might, our mind always turns to an exhibition of strength, power, glory and influence. God is Almighty, but in the domain of men, there is cap on the extent of might. So the mighty do indeed fall. This isn’t a new message since there is evidence of this throughout history.
So briefly, we ponder on the question: ‘why do the mighty fall?’
1. Pride
Pride begins the moment a man acknowledges no one but himself as the reason for all their results. Adopting this mindset will make you arrogant, resistant to change and correction, as well as fast track your way out of those same results you are celebrating. Fight pride at all costs.
2. Stepping beyond your jurisdiction
Whenever you step beyond the scope of the measure of grace allocated to you, you could be in trouble and it will take the mercy of God to preserve you. You ought to preserve the focus you have – don’t major in minor things, and minor in major things. You can do all things, but you aren’t meant to be doing all things.
3. Unaddressed weaknesses
Among the many things to know about oneself is the answer to the question “what can bring me down? “Knowing these will provide you with the prayer points and appropriate actions to mitigate those weaknesses. Be clear to identify what protects the oil, grace or gift in your life and stay there. Likewise, note what stifles the same, and ask for grace to win the war in that area.
