DAY 19/366
Reference: 1 Samuel 24:1-20

1 Samuel 24:4 And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee.
The sole reason Saul found his way into the cave in the wilderness of Engedi was because he was pursuing David with 3000 men to kill him. Thus, it made sense for David’s men to see the elimination of Saul as God’s way out of that difficult season. In fact, it seemed all things had aligned to bring Him to David to be slain.
However, David knew otherwise and rather preserved Saul’s life. Two lessons from the text:
1. The voice of the masses is not necessarily the voice of God.
It took David’s knowledge of what the ways of God concerning the matter at hand to convince his men to stay put and not raise their weapons. There are times when your resolute conviction is what will be required to manage the position of the masses, so don’t get swayed by them.
2. God will not eliminate every challenging situation from our lives
God’s answer to every request of ours to be removed from a challenging situation isn’t necessarily to say “Yes my child”. There are many times He will say ‘Not this time’ because that situation is exactly what is required to bring out what He seeks to make out of you. His style has consistently been to let us grow in, through, and out of the challenges we face. Don’t allow people push you out of those training seasons.
