FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE

DAY 15/366

1 Samuel 15:17 Samuel said, “Is it not true that even though you were small (insignificant) in your own eyes, you were made the head of the tribes of Israel? And the LORD anointed you king over Israel,

When it comes to establishing perspective in something, personal points of view are always taken into account. Therefore, however an individual perceives themselves becomes the reality they live. The side note is: “that is only how they see themselves because God has a different point of view”.

About King Saul today, we see Samuel take him back in time to the point where ‘he saw himself as small in his own eyes’. In 1st Samuel  9:21, Saul uses words very similar to those of Gideon, highlighting his stature ” Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you address me in this manner?

Samuel had to reassure him that he was God’s choice to reign over Israel. Whenever God engages with a man, He does so from the perspective of how He sees that man because left to the definitions of people, few will ever dare to see themselves the way God does. Many would perceive themselves as not intelligent enough, not popular enough, not bold enough, belonging to a small family; the list goes on.

Not seeing yourself as small is not an
invitation unto arrogance and pride, but rather to see yourself as God does. It takes transformation and reorientation to perceive yourself through the lens of God “as fearfully and wonderfully made”, but make every effort to see that as your reality.
