DO YOU KNOW HIM?

1 Samuel 3:7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord was not yet revealed to him.

The call of Samuel is the highlight of the third chapter of first book of Samuel. However, some verses present a few things things to consider. Of note, Samuel was resident in the temple, in proximity to the ark of the God. He was that close, yet the verse today is clear “he did not know the Lord yet”.

To us, the inference is rather strong and a basis for us to consider where we stand.

Proximity to the things of God is not the definition of intimacy. The real measure of intimacy is a positive answer to the question “Do you know Him?”

When Samuel answered yes to this, and meant it truly, no word of his fell to the ground (3:19). The same question is posed to us “Do you know Him?”
