DAY 12/366

Mark 2:3 "four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat.
In different circumstances, the number of people required to carry another can differ. The same man described could be carried by one person on his shoulder, two or even three on a stretcher. Yet, it was four men who carried this paralytic man to Jesus.
The first rule of manual handling is ‘to assess the load’. If we took today’s text literally, it would mean these men had assessed the paralytic and realised that to be effective and safe in the execution of what they wanted to achieve (getting this man to Jesus), four of them were required.
In our daily lives, there are many things we have to do, many loads we have to carry to certain destinations. Not the kind to cast unto Jesus, but the kind required to build our capacity and move us forward. We therefore have to consciously be aware of the requirements to bear those loads.
Otherwise, in our zeal and enthusiasm, those loads could become burdens that ultimately crush us under its weight. So first assess to determine if you have the capacity to bear the load before you alone. If you can’t, get help.
