Mark 1:37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”

‘Everyone is looking’ for you is a good sign because it is an attestation of your value. Whether this is in the form of your gift, a service/product or your exhibition of mastery in your field of endeavour, it means that you have so become ‘visible and useful’ to the world around you that it has no choice but to acknowledge what you have.

However, this status comes with a firm warning lest you become trapped in ‘an arrival mentality’. When everyone comes looking for you, that is also a call to a heightened level of attention because you can very easily become caught up in the glories of the moment that you become proud, complacent, and indisciplined.

Despite all the feats, Jesus would retreat in prayer and continue his charge to go preaching in the other towns (Mark 1:38). That was the reason for his coming, and ‘accolades of value’ were not going to become his distraction.

Be careful, otherwise the crowns men give you can take your focus away from your assignment.
