DAY 7/366
Reference text: Matthew 2:1-12

The story of the three wise men who journeyed to the infant Jesus is one that is familiar, with highlights been the star that led them and the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrhh which they presented. From the look of it, this was a story with a good start resulting in happy and joyful ending. But it is worth asking also “is that all there was to this journey?”
On the same journey, we notice their decision to go seek clarification from Herod at a point as the star that led the way was out of sight. They would have questioned if indeed they were headed in the right direction or they had wasted their time. Their journey to Jesus was not simply smooth sailing.
Likewise, in our lives, the journeys to where we want to be will not always be pleasant. There will be some storms and tears, some hurdles and disappointments, perhaps, even some betrayals. But beloved, endure and press forward because you know that the end result is ‘joy overflowing with victory guaranteed’.
Therefore, don’t give up while on the journey because you run so that you may attain, and only those who finish the race are crowned.
