John 1:38 Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?”

This question, which Jesus asked the two disciples of John who decided to follow Him has many variants: ‘what do you want? What are after? What are you looking for?

It was a question that went straight for the jugular, a shot at the heart of man to perceive what they truly desired in their pursuit of God. This is very true because many chase after God because of what they know He has to offer: knowledge, wealth, healing, power, influence, access, and resources. The very reality that He can make “anybody” a somebody.

Yet, we seem to forget that God is a master architect! He is the creator, potter and author of life. We may indeed therefore approach Him for many seemingly material things and reasons, but He is a real expert at drawing us in with what we want to make us what He desires of us.

What you seek from God may seem mundane, but it is the entry point to draw you into real fellowship with Him.
