DAY 3/366

Whatever you practice diligently, one
gains mastery in. So John in his first letter, highlights the ‘practicing of sin’. In other words, there is a decision making component to the sin equation because regardless of the power of suggestion, choice in some form, consciously or not, also comes into play.
Just because we have transitioned from the kingdom of darkness into light following our acceptance of the finished works of Christ does not automate the process for the transformation of our minds. This remains a conscious and intentional moment by moment decision to make choices that are representative of the said transition.
The Amplified version of today’s text summarises this as follows
'No one who abides in Him [who remains united in fellowship with Him—deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin. No one who habitually sins has seen Him or known Him(1 John 3:6).
Our transition is meant to trigger an interruption in the way we lived. So if there has been no separation between the you that did not know Jesus, and the you who does, you are called to ask if indeed you have come to know Him.
