DO YOU KNOW GOD ?

1 John 2:3 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.

When one takes on any learning project, there are different ways to assess if the content being transmitted, has been understood and applied. So whether in the form of a written or practical examination, an oral presentation or an essay, by all means, knowing must be checked.
And there is always a way to know that we know.

When it comes to knowing the Lord, it always comes in stages, with each stage drawing us into deeper fellowship.
First, you ‘know of Him’. This is where  His name rings a bell, whether you heard about it in passing or through a song or some other way. The intention of this knowing is to inspire curiosity to wade further.

Then you come to “know about Him”- Here, you know about His ways and His works. The testimonies of others and their journeys. You come to know of His mercy, His love, His judgement and His wrath. Albeit, from a distance.

The final step is where you ‘know Him’- At this stage, the knowing becomes experiential and personal. It becomes a fellowship only you can define and express in your own words, sometimes with no words. That is where we ought to arrive at. The point where we perceive, recognize, understand, and are acquainted personally with God.

At this point, obedience becomes a required ingredient because to keep and obey His commandments and teaching, is proof of KNOWING (vs 4). The question thus is neither ‘do you know of God, or do you know about God, it is ‘do you know God?’

You cannot hide ‘knowing’, there is always a way to know that you know!
