ACCEPT ONLY WHAT GOD SAYS

DAY 359

Luke 1:36,38 Elizabeth, your relative, is six months pregnant with a son in her old age. People said she couldn't have a child. “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it happen to me according to your word.”

The angel Gabriel brings Mary some inside information which may have contributed to her decision today. He told her about Elizabeth, and the one statement that caught my attention was ‘people said she couldn’t have a child’. In other words, society had described her by virtue of the circumstance she found herself in.

Mary therefore responds along this line of thought ‘I have heard what people called Elizabeth, barren, and I have heard what you have called me, mother of the saviour. Therefore, I choose to become what you call me and so I say yes to that.

You cannot let the narrative of society become the guiding principles that decides what you accept as true. Until what is said by men, aligns with the concrete word of  what God has said about you, you have every reason to refuse to acknowledge it.
