DAY 357

1 Samuel 1:27-28 For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord.” So they worshiped the Lord there
The language Hannah used today is heavy. It is almost as though when she uses the words ‘,”I have lent him to the Lord,’ she assumes the posture of one who appears to be saying “what God has given me, is mine to do with as I please, so I choose to lend him to God’. Not give him to God, but lend him to God- His stake and mine.
Similar to obtaining a loan from the bank, because lending in any form is a significant activity, you lend only after you have verified and are satisfied that the one being lent to, meets preset criteria. So whether what is been lent is a tool, or a person, there has to be some assurance that they know what to do with what is lent to them.
It is even more exciting if you lend a tool to its manfacturer because then, you know it will be used exactly as designed and that is what Hannah does. Knowing that her son, Samuel, was from God, she lent him back to God. That was the strongest guarantee she could have that her lad would function as designed. To her, it meant ‘I trust this boy in God’s hands more than in mine’
Beloved, whenever God gives us anything, it is true He has committed them to us. However, it will be folly to think for a moment that we know how to wield what He has given us better than He does.
Be it a gift, a life or a resource, whatever we have been given by God serves its best purpose when it is lent back to Him to guide its use.
