DAY 353

Reference text: Judges 13:2-7
but one day an angel from the Lord appeared to her and said: You have never been able to have any children, but very soon you will be pregnant and have a son. He will belong to God from the day he is born, so his hair must never be cut. And even before he is born, you must not drink any wine or beer or eat any food forbidden by God's laws [Vs 3-4]
We aren’t told the name of the woman who would become Samson’s mother, yet one thing is abundantly clear from her encounter: the angel she met came with a very strict set of instructions. Those instructions were to become new code of conduct or ‘consecrations’ if she was to birth the son as declared unto her. Adherence to them was non negotiable.
Consecrations are, therefore, requisite commitments and demands, that keep and sustain transitions and seasons. They could be a collection of behaviours or actions that ensure the sustenance of specific results.
So whether they are in the form of don’ts like Manoah’s wife received today, or do’s like Daniel praying three times a day in Babylon, you can be certain that there are consecrations that guard every transition in life.
Make no mistake though, God remains the source and giver of every gift and grace, but it will take adherence to the consecrations that accompany the graces and gifts you wield for those gifts to shine brightest. Keeping consecrations will both fuel and preserve the gifts and graces you carry.
So today, ponder on this question: “what word-based or personal consecrations do I have to adhere to in order to stay in this new season?”
