DAY 349
Isaiah 48:17 This is what the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit (benefit), Who leads you in the way that you should go.
Choice of words is significant in language because it can tell the conditions surrounding any situation. A few words littered in today’s verses are of interest: ‘should’, and if one were to read subsequent verses, ‘would have’ also occurs a few times. Would have, could have and should have is often present in the language of those who wish they had made alternative choices.
God, speaking to Israel, presented himself as one who teaches them to profit and leads them in the way they “should go”. In other words, there is a way they could go, but the best route is one they should go.
Whenever you go along the way you should go, all the promises that come along with that obedience become manifested. Conversely, when you miss the path you should go, the many advantages that come with walking in the will of God: the covering, provision, abundance, and preservation, are likely to be missed out on.
I know there are many things you can and want to do, however not all of them are things you should do. Discerning the difference is a key to longevity of impact.
