HE CHANGES NOT

DAY 341

What lasts forever? This was the question that came to mind after I read the first reading of today from Isaiah. The text of interest is

Isaiah 26:3 ''You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You".

A mind stayed on God is the one that expereince perfect peace because true peace, is a function of stability. Unfortunately, nothing outside God offers absolute stability. Therefore, if anyone fixes their gaze on temporary things that are ever changing, so will their peace vassilate.

The only one to who we can ascribe no change is the one who declares ‘,I am the Lord, I change not’ (Malachi 3:6). This is seen in the letter to the Hebrews ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever’ (Heb 13:8). That beloved, is the assurance upon which the guarantee of perfect peace stands.

I don’t know on what or on who your eyes are stayed, but if your gaze is on things, then your peace is in trouble because you can be certain that all things will change. People, situations, systems, processes, and places are all subject to change, however small. Therefore, if perfect peace is your desire, your gaze should only be fixed on God because He is the only unchanging factor. All other things change.
