BUILD FROM THE BOTTOM UP

Reference text: Daniel 2:31-45

DAY 332

There is a way to stand so you do not fall. One may have a very agile upper half, but if your feet are not trained to hug the ground well, the rest of your body will eventually make contact with the ground. It is only a matter of when.

The image Daniel describes to Nebichadnezzar was quite vivid: a head of gold, chest and arms of silver , middle and thighs of bronze, legs of iron and feet partly of clay and iron. Whenever we encounter others, we normally look from ‘head to toe’, in that order. Regardless however of how the head appears, it is the feet that bears it upright, and this is something we often pay little attention to.

It is surprising that for all the heavy and precious metal that had gone into the frame of the image, it’s feet were built out of the weakest of materials. It was strongest at its head, and weakest at it base and that was why it came crumbling down.

Foundations will continue to remain a the necessary requirement for any construction, whether the construction is physical or not. let’s not hold back on precious metals that go into the foundation because no one sees them. Although unseen, that is what holds the structure up.

Don’t move around with a shiny head and arms, while standing on weak foundations. You stand to lose a lot more. Build from the bottom up, not top to bottom.
