DAY 331

Daniel 1:4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
We have become so used to the narrative ‘anyone can be used by God’ that we seem to ignore the fact that there is always a criteria for recruitment when it comes to service. By all means, all are welcome through the doors of salvation, but as far as service is concerned, there are criteria that is looked for.
The list for recruitment into Nebucadnezzar’s service was very thorough, and by all accounts, it was a very detailed list and chances were not many would qualify for selection. If those requirements were in place for an earthly king, would God not have such too?
Beloved, there is always a criteria that gets one drafted into the service of God. Just because we do not seem to identify these does not mean they are not in use. In the parable where invited guests declined the invitation, the open invitation requested for: ‘the poor, crippled, blind and the lame’ Not an exciting list, but one with specific requirements (Luke 14:21).
More will be expected to keep you inside, but whenever you encounter any door in life, there will be specific requirements that get you through it. These may include diligence, discipline, background, your gifts, competence, humility etc . The question is: of those requirements you can develop, how many of them are your honing as you wait for opportunities to arrive?
