DAY 326

Zechariah 13:7 Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the LORD Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones.
In times past, during a war, enemies made it a mission to eliminate the king or leading general of their opposition. Whether this was carried on the battle field or discreetly, it didn’t matter. The ultimate endgoal was to ensure that leading figure was no longer present.
This is evident in the story of David and Goliath, when the entire philistine army were thrown into chaos and fled after Goliath fell. Whenever the head is gone, whatever and whoever follows is thrown in disarray. To take over any system, you often don’t need to convince everybody, your target is those with influence; those voices that many honour and respond to.
That is why as men and women who occupy positions of influence, as Christians who are the light of the world, we cannot let our convictions keep moving to and fro. Let’s make up your mind and stay with it – those who look to us require such certainty to keep following. Don’t lose your convictions founded on the word of God. If your values waver, whatever you have built on it, will crumble.
