DO BUSINESS TILL I COME

DAY 325

Luke 19:13 Beforehand, he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. ‘Conduct business with this until I return,’ he said.

The servant in rebellion, who was utterly disobedient, did not heed instruction. As a result, he missed the key that was given alongside the money:  ‘do business till I return‘. This was to tell them ‘what you have in your hand will not multiply until you engage in something of value with it’.

In otherwords, it can stay as a single mina or become more than that. It all depends on what business you engage in while I am gone. Those who were obedient, reaped the fruits of multiplication: one man increased by ten fold and another, five fold. Yet, one man had exactly one mina upon the master’s return, alongside a bucketload of excuses.

With the citizens initially sending a letter after their master saying they were unwilling to have him rule over them, you would have expected all the servants to fold their hands in agreement. But no, not everyone was in on it. Don’t be fooled into joining the crowd because you think the crowd includes everybody. There are those who still stand out.

When Paul was discouraged and afraid while on mission, God admonished him ‘For I am with you and no one will lay a hand on you, because I have many people in this city”(Acts 18:10). Even in the midst of utter Godlessness, there are still men who will  be obedient to ‘do business’ with what the master has given until he returns. Let’s be counted in that number.
