DAY 324
Reference text: Luke 19:1-10
We read about Jesus passing Jericho and the exploits of a man named Zacchaeus. A few things we know about this man:
1. He was chief tax collector
2. He was wealthy
3. He was short/small
Therefore, desiring to see Jesus, he encountered two challenges: externally from the crowd and internally by virtue of his small stature. Aware of both limitations, his solution was to climb a sycamore tree from which he could have a better view.
We can perceive the sycamore tree as leverage: as men, systems or positions that give an advantage. There are some things we can attain in life only when we stand on the shoulders of others. Not because we want to climb over them, but because they have paved the way and established a foundation firm enough to bear extra weight set upon it.
There are some heights that to reach, you ought to have found relevant sycamore trees: these would often be men who have paid the price of alignment and have corresponding results to show for it. This the reason you cannot see every one you meet in life as competition, some are to offer you leverage.
