WHEN THINGS PASS BY

DAY 323

Luke 18:37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”

Opportunities have their validity period. These represent timelines within which choices or actions have to be taken for their maximum effect to be registered. Otherwise, those missed timelines become seasons of missed opportunities, and it will take the mercy of God, for those seasons to be recycled for anyone to collide with them again.

The blind man in today’s Gospel hears a crowd trodding by and was quick to make enquiries. The reply he got was ‘Jesus of Nazareth is PASSING by’. The tenses of the language used in scripture are always indicative of intent, and this was the ‘present continuous tense’, thus implying Jesus was still journeying along and was close by. That meant a shout above the voices of the crowd was likely to register, hence the blind man’s action.

Whenever you wait for things to ‘pass by’ before you reach out, it is akin to attempting to grasp the hairs on the head of opportunity after it has gone by. This is likely to end in futility because that head, is bald at the back. So when you discern an open window, and the inner witness prompts you to take action, get moving because that opportunity is ”PASSING BY”.
