DAY 319

Luke 17:13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
The ten lepers we read about today seemed to understand something about God.
The first notable thing was in their salutation: they called Jesus ‘master’. That was a title accorded to Jesus anyways, but in the context, they were invoking a dimension in the office of the Christ to come to their aid. We can think about blind Bartimaeus – he opted for Jesus, son of David – have mercy on me”.(Mark 10:47)
There will always remain dimensions of God that are captured in his many names. Whenever you catch the revelation of a name of God, you can place demands on the office behind the name, because it has become your reality.
The second thing is ‘they knew how to hear from God’. Their communication with Jesus today was coded: they said ‘have mercy on us’ and Jesus responded: ‘go and show yourself to the high priest’. In plan language, only the priests were authorised to clear anyone to return to the community after being healed from leprosy.
These lepers understood all Jesus meant even though it was not plainly spoken. Likewise, not all instruction from GOD will be in black and white, but will we be able to read between the lines to get the message?
