DAY 311

Reference text: Luke 14:15-24
Everything for the banquet was ready, utinvited guests found reasons to not attend: the first gave an excuse: ‘I have bought a piece of land and need to go check it out. The second had bought a yoke of oxen, and was going to test them out. The third, had married a wife.
The one who threw the banquet had enough reason to be angry: perhaps, he was angry because he would lose face with some guests, and all the planning that had gone into the banquet would amount to a waste of resources too. However, the reasons for non attendance were good reasons- in fact, they were all very valid.
The reason we might miss out on the banquet of the Lord is not because we sinned or simply lost track of where we ought to go, it is often because of ‘business as usual’. We therefore give up our seats at God’s banquet, to partake in the replacements He has given to us. Subsequently, the very things that come into our lives often as additives, take over the place reserved for God.
It is very easy to allow ‘creation’ to take the place of the creator, and this won’t come in the form of wrong things, but in ‘business as usual’. So be careful.
