DAY 309

1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.
Our encounters with other men: the disappointments, delays, wrong experiences, lies, among others, play
a role in how we receive from them. We tend to have issues holding onto what people say because on some occasions, there may not be ability to execute what is promised.
One clear distinction between men and God, is the integrity and ability test: ‘God is not a man that he should lie’, however, there is also the power dimension, ‘nothing is impossible for God’. These conditions sets him apart in a class of his own because he has the means to fulfil anything He says.
There is a sure way to get nothing from the word of God though, and that is to refuse to acknowledge it as the ‘Word of God’. Whenever the Bible enters the fray of conversation, people come up with arguments along the lines of ‘it was written by men’. In that vain, whatever is written is seen as mere human ideas and notions.
Oh what a great loss! If only we could see the word of God as it actually is: as the key to unlocking divine promises, kingdom principles and prophecies linked to life and destiny. There is too much that will be lost if we treat the word of God as the words of mere men.
