THERE IS REST IN ‘KNOWING’

DAY 307

Matthew 8:23-24 Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.

Even though students may not have the same questions that will be answered when they sit an exam, there is some comfort in knowing the boundaries and areas from which the same questions will arise. The same is true for a race driver on a familiar track – despite the high stakes, there is some rest in that ‘I know this track’.

These were some of the thoughts that went through my mind on my cycle in to work this evening. I realised ‘I don’t really have to think hard about what I am doing or where I am going because I already know’

Beloved, there is something knowing does for you, and that is the ability to give you rest. When we recall when Jesus was sleep in the boat while the disciples battled a storm or that time when they were concerned about feeding the multitudes? On both occasions, Jesus was at rest because He knew things they did not.

There is a rest that comes from ‘knowing’- from knowing God, knowing who you are in God, knowing where you are and where God is taking you, knowing who is in your team and knowing all the things that have been given to you for your victory in life. The reason you are might not be at rest, could be because you have not yet known.
