SOWING SEEDS

Psalm 126:6 He who goes out weeping, bearing a trail of seed, will surely return with shouts of joy, carrying sheaves of grain.

They went out carrying ‘seed for sowing’.  This was a specific item intended to be used in completing an assignment. Without the sowing of seeds, there will be no corresponding harvest. It is those men who went out with seeds for sowing that returned carrying sheaves.

There is a place for ‘seed’ hence, not all seed is for eating or even for storing. By seed, this is not just a reference only to the natural grains used in farming because many other things may qualify as seed: time, gifts, talents, hardwork, studying, money. It takes seeds of time to bear sheaves of relationship, seeds of excelling in using ones gift well, to have access to the serve kings.

Some vices may even also be seeds too:
If you sow seeds of discord, you reap sheaves of conflict and when you sow seeds of jealousy, you reap a harvest of greed. We carry viable seeds with us everywhere, with access to soils suitable for sowing them. We therefore have to consciously decide to sow good seed because only then can we expect bountiful harvests.
