DO SOMETHING ABOUT IGNORANCE

DAY 305

Revelation 7:13-14a Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?”I answered, “Sir, you know.”

Today’s text is set in the throne room of Heaven where John finds himself in a dialogue with one of the elders.
He is asked a question ‘These who are dressed in the long white robes who are they and where did they come from?’ As a stranger also in this vicinity and having no means to answer correctly, John responds ‘My Lord, you know’. At these words, he received the answer to the said question.

Thus, even though John was ignorant about the subject in this dialogue, he acknowledged this gap and resorted to outsourcing that body of knowledge. There are always three attitudes to ignorance:

  • 1. I don’t know, but I will find out’- this will cost you time
  • 2. I don’t know, but another who knows can teach me’ – this will cost your pride
  • 3. I don’t know but I don’t care – this will cost you opportunities, open doors and draw in rebuke.

Regardless, anytime we are asked about anything, all three options are opened to us. While our responses may vary depending on the circumstances, by all means let us be in a position to want to do something about the areas of our life where we have insufficient information.

Do something about ignorance.
