WHO CAN STAND AGAINST THE LORD?

DAY 303

Psalms 68:1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

The first statement of today’s Psalm evokes an old song which many are familiar with. However, we know by experience that when God arises, shifts happen. Age-long battles end and mountains that have defied all authority are shattered. Two takes on this text:

First, for God to arise means you must not be the one doing the fighting. For if you know how to do your own battles, you cannot see the God of war arise. You will miss the move of the all consuming fire. He knows how to do battle much more than you can. Those are the times when He wants you to step back and see Him in action.

Another take on the text is to ‘let the God-dimension in you burst forth’. That is the point where you stand on shoulders of the King of kings, on the leverage of His authority, as the son and heir He has made you, to legislate on matters that concern you. Anything that stands against you, natural or spiritual, is effectively at war against the fulfilment of the purposes of God. Here, an outflow of what is on the inside is what is necessitated.

Indeed when God arises, his enemies are scattered, for none can stand against our God.
