DAY 302

Exodus 22:21 “Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.
If there is one thing that people forget often, it is the reality of their experiences. Our experiences can be described as the memories we carry from our journey through life. They can be gained through the battles we face, the situations that brought us the most joy or pain, and even those things that may appear as random occurrences.
The culmination of these can become the message God speaks to an entire generation about through an individual. The Israelites were asked to draw on their experiences in Egypt: when their task masters “made their lives bitter with hard labour in mortar, brick, and all kinds of field work. All their labour was harsh and severe (Ex 1:14).
This experience was to fuel their attitudes towards others in a positive manner. Unfortunately, it appears that for some, their life’s mission is to ensure that everyone goes through the very same experiences they have had, particularly when those weren’t positive. Their argument ‘you have to experience it yourself to understand’.
This might sound harsh, but the truth is
not everyone must go through the same experiences as you.
Your pathway in life may have demanded that route, but not for them. Your experiences are intended to map out an alternative path for others to follow as it will highlight the things to avoid, and those worth considering.
