FULFIL YOUR ASSIGNMENT

DAY 298

Luke 12:42-43 The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns.

When an individual begins their own assignment, they can set personal deadlines and targets for tasks. This does not apply when an assignment is given to you by another, yours will be to meet any deadlines or milestones set out for you. You are likely to face punitive measures if you fail to meet set targets.

The parable Jesus tells today buttresses the opening above. In this parable, Jesus asks a question but provides the answer in ensuing verses. In summary, ‘the wise and faithful servant is the one who will be found doing what his master has charged them to do when the said master returns’. The one found misusing his office and the influence that came with it, faced a harsh time when it was review season.

The unfed and abused servants may have had other duties to perform for the master, but the actions of their supervisor to not feed them would likely affect their ability to perform any other task. Whenever God commissions us for roles in the advancement of His kingdom, we ought to realise that there is a time sensitive component to those assignments because our fulfilling them has a knock on effect on the lives of other people.

Knowing what you ought to do then is the start, but by all means, after discovery, plan for execution. Beloved, you cannot afford to leave your assignment unfulfilled because whether directly or indirectly, many depend on it. However, don’t be deceived into perpetual inactivity because as much as God loves you, He loves others too. If necessary, another will be asked to fulfil the assignment you are not.
