DAY 296

Luke 12:13-14 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
On the walks of Jesus through town as we read, he is met by a rather interesting request ‘Teacher, tell my brother to give me my share of the inheritance’. It is Jesus’ answer that I find rather striking ‘who appointed me a judge or arbitrator over you?
In swimming, swimmers must always stay within their tracks, wandering into another track, even if accidental, could lead to disqualification. Likewise, many professionals within their code of conduct have to work within ‘a scope of practice’- the boundaries of their skills and the authority with which they are empowered. Operating outside these boundaries often leadd to undesiring consequences.
There are many situations we will encounter in life that will fall outside our scope of practice and influence. We may be concerned about them, but we may wield no vested authority to affect those specific situations. Wandering into such matters with only enthusiasm and no authority can have far reaching impacts.
Don’t go barging into situations you have no jurisdiction over. They could leave you battered and bruised.
