KEEPING TRACK OF EVERYTHING

Every now and again, we bump into deep mysteries hidden in the word and that gets us excited because another covering is lifted into the word of God. However, the hardest things to accept from the word are often those that do not seem to require much extra garnishing to communicate their content.

Some of the words of Jesus are as simple and as literal as they sound, yet those are the ones we find hardest to receive because we tend to ask ourselves ‘what else could He have meant in those words? In seeking for this ‘other meaning’, we miss out entirely on the clear and obvious.

Today’s text is pretty straight forward and personally, whenever I read it, I just smile because I take it literally:

Indeed the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not be afraid; you are far more valuable than many sparrows" (Luke 12:7)

Those words are plain communications from my Father to me saying ‘
I know your rising and I know your sleeping
I know your tears, and I know your fears,
I am very much into all that concerns you, so don’t think I am not looking.

And this cheers me up because I am persuaded that God, who knows me best and wants the best for me, is keeping track of everything.
