DAY 289

Luke 11:31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
The queen of the south travelled from afar, her price to pay to hear the wisdom of Solomon. This she did because she had seen what could be gained from that single encounter. So for her, the reward was worth the price.
However, for those in Jesus’ generation, about whom he spoke, they could not see that they had in their midst one greater than Solomon. Perhaps, they were expecting more grandeur, an oozing of royalty or more exterior sparkle. By not seeing, they missed out on multiple opportunities to engage Christ, who was the very wisdom of God (1 Cor 1:24).
Some things are free to receive – Salvation one of such. However, for many others, here is the chain of events: “if you can’t see it [discern value, purpose and reason for it], you will be unwilling to pay the price [time, material resources, effort ] required to have. If you do not pay the price, you cannot receive it. And what you receive without paying for, you are more likely to lose.
So today, it’s worth thinking about this ‘
even though I have the currency, what don’t I have because I am unwilling to pay the price for?
