DAY 285

Luke 11:8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.
We read the story about a man who
knocked on his friend’s s door at an odd hour to request supply for another friend who had come visiting. In other words, for a friend, this man had to inconvenience another friend.
Following the chain of relationships, you might think that familiarity or the key called friendship would have gotten the door opened when he came knocking, but it did not. In that situation, if all he had was ‘friendship’, he would have been disappointed.
The door to friendship only got him as far as a confident knock on the door because he was not a stranger. That is what relationship does for you- to get you knocking at the door without fear because you know the person behind the door is a friend, someone familiar. The real dynamics begin when you knock.
He on his part, had to lay aside the cloak of friendship and familiarity, to put on a garment of persistence and perseverance shameless audacity, one version puts it. His friend opened up to meet his needs not because he was familiar, but because of his persistence. Familiarity alone therefore, may not always enough’.
