DAY 276

Luke 9:53 But the people there refused to welcome Him, because He was heading for Jerusalem.
There are many things that can cause you to take offence with others. This is often the case with those from whom you can receive, or those who have something you desire. You are very likely to resist such, whether they are men or systems.
The Samaritan town, about which we read, found themselves in this predicament when they refused the ministry of Jesus because they knew his eyes were set on a different destination. To them, Jesus had not deemed them relevant enough to ‘plan a visitation to them’.
That bears the semblance of an untransformed mindset and immaturity because that was not reason enough to refuse His ministry. Their resistance caused them to miss out on all the things ‘His passing that way’ would have brought- healings, deliverance, restoration and access to the word of God.
There are many occasions in scripture when what seemed like a chance encounter with Jesus, was all that was required for a massive turn around. However, ego and pride can become grande obstacles that stand in the way of such encounters as we notice with this Samaritan town. In response, Jesus simply opted to go another way.
Till date, His words remain the same ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me (Rev 3:20).
May we not miss out on encounters because of our resistance.
