JESUS IS THE ANSWER

DAY 261

Luke 7:12 Now as He approached the gate of the city, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a sizeable crowd from the city was with her.

A considerable crowd followed this woman, who was on her way to bury her only son, having already buried her husband. If any one were to ask her what she wanted, I doubt her request would have been for a bigger crowd to tag along as she said goodbye to her son.

She would have behaved like the Shunammite woman in second King’s chapter 4, and requested the life of her son back. That kind of request falls categorically outside the scope of influence of men. It takes the Resurrection and the life to execute. Who this widow needed was Jesus, and she met him.

Men are partners with God, but mind you, there are many times when men  cannot be the answer, Jesus is. Therefore, do not fix your gaze unto men. Even though we are charged to ‘imitate those who through faith and patience inherited the promise'(Heb 6:12), the ultimate goal is the Look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
