DAY 255

When a task isn’t done, you are not accountable for it’s outcome unless it is included in the list of your assigned or inherited responsibilities. Thus, there are some things which are ours to deal and many that rest in the remit of others.
‘Acquisition of the truth’ is one such area which falls within our jurisdiction. As His children, God has placed shepherds over our souls, these will give accounts of their stewardship to God. However, as we mature in God, we reach a point where we ought to take over the responsibility for our growth.
Paul tells the Colossian church
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ '(2:8).
It was their responsibility, therefore, to ensure that their hearts and minds were garrisoned from swaying to and fro by every wave of doctrine. The way to achieve this is to ‘buy the truth, and sell it not'(Prov 23:23).
This is a deeper pursuit to better understand the ways and character of God, as revealed through His word. There is something that personal revelation gives you – it provides you with the boundaries for your pursuit and the confidence to keep believing. ‘
Without a firm conviction, rooted in a personal revelation of Jesus, your believing will sway in many winds’.
