DAY 247
Reference text: “Luke 4:16-30

As a preamble, here is a reminder:
“
Don’t become too familiar with God as a father that you lose track of the fact that He is Holy, Almighty, Sovereign, and Judge. You might become lacivious.”
Familiarity is an interesting concept when one explores it further – in its basic form, it suggests becoming acquainted with, or gaining a better understanding of how a person, a system or thing operates. With this knowledge can arise two branches of outcome: boldness to engage them better or an air of resistance and rejection.
Jesus mentions ‘a prophet and his hometown’ as an example of the second outcome of familiarity- a lack of acknowledgement and appreciation of the graces others carry within their office. As a result, outsiders are those who receive from those same graces, because they acknowledge it.
Bearing in mind that different men and institutions carry different dimensions of the graces, by all means get familiar with the desire to gain courage to engage them better. However, even when you become familiar, do not fail to acknowledge the graces they carry. Else, you stop drinking from those fountains even when you are so close to them.
