DIVINE CONNECTIONS

DAY 238

Ruth 2:3 So Ruth went. She entered a field and gathered the grain left behind by the reapers. Now it happened that she ended up in the part of the field that belonged to Boaz, who was from Elimelech's family.

If there is anyone who is a master at ordering the steps of man, it is God. He so works in subtle ways that to the one word that appears the most suitable to explain this dimension of God’s dealing is ‘coincidence’.

That is how it appears because Ruth seems to have stumbled into the field belonging to Boaz by sheer accident, she didn’t intend to. It just so happened then that at that very moment, Boaz was also hanging around in his field. That was a perfect coincidence – or so it seems.

There is something God does when he wants to usher you into new seasons – he brings you into contact with others. He either brings men to you, or guides your steps to them. Both plans were activate in the story of Ruth and Boaz. However, we realise that just because such connections are made, does not mean that story ends – one has to make the most of that connection.

Many miss out on defining seasons of life because they did not make use of the connections that came their way. Some connections are lost because all others expect to gain are material resources: only that they miss out on the light, wisdom, and experience that is on offer.

Don’t treat divine connections lightly: don’t abuse them or misuse them. You will miss out on destiny-defining seasons.
