OBSTACLES CAN BE PROPELLERS

DAY 232

Reference text: Matthew 15:22-29

Obstacles are defined as things that block the way or hinders progress’. On all accounts therefore, where possible, we will do well to avoid any obstacles along the paths on which we travel. The Canaanite Woman described in the gospel today, encountered an obstacle in her quest to obtain deliverance for her daughter.

‘This obstacle was none other than Jesus, walking within the boundaries of his divine assignment’. His response to this woman was ‘

“I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel”(Matt 15:24).

Now that is a real obstacle. Yet, this woman pressed further and her great faith cause protocols to be bent to her advantage.

The faith that breaks protocols and births results as presented in the Gospel text, is described by Jesus as ‘great faith'(vs 28). This kind does not arise spontaneously, it is alive and has to be intentionally nurtured.

Beloved, not all difficulties have to make life difficult and not all the obstacles we face are intended to be hindrances of progress, some are present to serve as a source of fuel to encourage us to press deeper and engage more with the grace of God.
