DAY 227

The English premier league has presented some very interesting stories in the current transfer window, with one player in particular, sparking a huge bidding war between two big teams. Even though the offer of one was accepted, the player refused to choose that club as his heart was set on the other. He got his wish granted, but opinions are split as to whether this decision was a good one or one that would come back to haunt him.
Personally, I rejoice because he moved to a team I support, but I have also been looking at the hole saga through the lens of scripture. Whenever we set our focus to journey to, and with God, at a certain point, we will arrive at a cross road. A point where we are offered an alternative to God.
These offers are often equally more appealing, arguably, even more rewarding and present the chance of immediate satisfaction. However, if we maintain a singular focus and stay with God, the end with Him is always better than any alternative on offer.
When we set our hands on the plough, we ought to maintain a focus to keep looking forward. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2).
We will definitely be swamped with options in our journey through life, but at every turn, may we be led to hear ‘this is the way, walk in it’. May we always make the choice that has God in it.
