ARE YOU SOWING FOR THE HARVEST?

DAY 222

2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

This principle of sowing and reaping is so woven into the fabric of life that it’s applicability is undeniable. Saint Paul wrote these proportions which we read about in today’s text:
1. sow sparingly, reap sparingly
2. sow bountifully, reap bountifully

We can extrapolate this to include a third fact:
3. sow nothing, reap nothing

However, even if a farmer does not sow anything, something will still grow. Only that there is now a dependence on ‘time and chance’  because what grows could be needful or very simply, be a useless pile of weeds.

It is an even bigger show of foolery for any farmer to get their tools ready for harvesting when they have sowed nothing, or to expect a bountiful harvest when they have been lean in their sowing. Whether it is in a career, a relationship or the life of another person, you cannot expect to receive a harvest from fields you have not planted in or watered.

What harvest are you expecting and is your sowing proportionate to that expected harvest? You cannot expect to be offered a seat at the table of celebrations when you played no role in getting there. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”(Gal 6:7).
