DAY 217

Matthew 14:1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
Fame does not just spread abroad. It is always birthed out of an association, or the execution of something worth gathering attention for. Therefore, in our current age of technology and social networking, people do many things with the intention of ‘going viral’. Some strange, some illegal, some dangerous and some commendable.
Jesus’ fame had reached the ears of Herod – the king had heard about, and was prepared to come to the brightness of His rising (Is 60:3). With His fame therefore, came greater exposure and room for more impact. With His fame came a higher degree of influence and a life which becomes a template for study- with or without His knowledge.
There is however a higher likelihood for abuse and misuse of what fame commands if it is not understood. Here is the caveat: many are only following the crowd and have no real sense of the purpose and reason for pursuing fame. Beloved, exposure comes at a very steep price and without understanding the cost to arrive, maintain and appropriately use fame, you only cook up a recipe for disaster.
You may want all men to know about you and for your horn to be exalted like the horn of a unicorn, but here is the question to ask yourself : ‘for what purpose?’ How does the kingdom of God benefit and to what end will society and men be impacted by your quest for fame and exposured?
