DAY 206

As a creation, man is jealous- that is clearly something we picked up from our creator. Men therefore relish the acknowledgements that folllow an achievement. Hence, one of the hardest betrayals any person can endure is when another takes the credit for what is perceived as ‘their effort and hardwork’. It is like a heavy punch in their stomach and a big dent to their ego.
Thus, it takes real humility for any man to redirect the focus from themselves to Jesus and that, is what we are asked to do. Paul tells the church in Corinth
we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us (2 Cor 4:7).
We are thus meant to shine only with the intention that through it, Jesus is glorified. That is a requirement for a man who is anointed: “God must be glorified through it”. Jesus in the sermon on the mount said ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Mt 6:15).
Whatever gifts then that we carry, whatever actions we do or whatever words we say, the intent is to ensure that Jesus is glorified and revealed through them.
