DON’T IGNORE THE STORIES OF MEN

DAY 202

Matthew 12:3 He answered, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

What use is there in understanding the happenings in the lives of those who have passed on? What would have been the use of knowing what David did when men were in a new era and a new dispensation?
The book of Hebrews presents a hall of fame, a celebration of men and women who through faith and patience, received promises from God.

Their examples are meant to be a pool from which we can also draw inference. All men have something to teach us, even those we consider as knowing nothing. The lives of others, if only we can read them, can become  lessons that guide our walk through life. As correction, as encouragement, or as templates for engaging God.

Knowing about David’s action in this specific scenario would have served as a resource, a suitable precedent from which lessons can be gleaned. So beloved, read the lives of other men and women. Don’t just be focused on their outcomes and results, find out their battles. The scars behind their beauty, the crosses behind their crowns or the tears behind their joy.

Hidden behind the successes of men and women are battle scars, and in scars are the jewels that power their results. So don’t ignore the stories of men.
