NURTURE WHAT YOU HAVE

DAY 199

Exodus 2:3 But when she could no longer keep him hidden, she made a basket out of reeds and covered it with tar. She put him in the basket and placed it in the tall grass along the edge of the Nile River.

We read about the birth of Moses today, paying particular attention to what prompted his mother to place him in a basket and set him in the nile. In the end, his life was saved, but it was indeed a dangerous move.

While with his mother, for three months, Moses was fed and nurtured. As a result, he grew. This ‘growing’ presented a challenge that made it impossible for him to be hidden any longer. His cry would have become louder, his nutritional requirements increased and his hygiene needs would have been a big give away. Simply put: ‘he could no longer be hidden because he was growing’.

Here is the message: whatever viable seed you diligently feed and nurture, will grow to a point where it becomes impossible to hide. You can try, but such will be the demands placed on that grace by virtue of the way it shines that you have no choice but to set it atop a flowing river so it may reach others.

The gifts, talents, abilities, and ungracings which God has given us, therefore, have to be serviced. They have to be nurtured to outgrow their current scope of impact and influence. The charge today then, is to continue nurturing through the gaining of knowledge that pertain to life and godliness.

When your growth approaches the attainment of mastery, even if you try, you can no longer be hidden. Men will seek you!
