BEYOND LOGIC

DAY 190

Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

If you had secrets to tell, who would your preferred audience to keep be: the wise and understanding or children? Majority would opt for the former because the wise are likely to possess the capacity to grasp what is being communicated to them.

Not that understanding is not required, rather it can create a challenge. With this ability to ‘understand’ comes the possibility of not fully receiving what is communicated because people of understanding possess intellectual acumen, and with that, a leaning towards a sense-led and logical reality. To such, receiving the things of the Spirit, which are spiritually discerned, can become a challenge.

Children on the other hand are malleable, they are teachable and so offer a mould that can be fashioned. ‘Children’ as used does not just refer to those young in age, but those who have malleable hearts- a sense of awe and wonder for things.

Childlikeness can thus become a real asset when receiving the things of the Spirit because very often, those things will defy logic. And the wise and understanding will resist them.
