FORCEFUL EVACUATION

DAY 185

Genesis 19:16 When Lot still hesitated, the angels seized his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters and rushed them to safety outside the city, for the Lord was merciful.

When we stand at the edge of a cliff surrounded by a body of water, the last thing we want would be for someone to push us in. Even if we are afraid, we would rather jump in our own time. Yet, they would be saving our lives if they pushed us into the water if they knew danger coming that we didn’t, and the safest place for us would be in the water.

There are days when God treats us the same way Lot was treated by the angels. They literally grabbed his hands and that of his family and walked the out of Sodom. His lingering was the trigger for this rushing out.

Very much like Lot, even when we are made fully aware that brimstone and fire are doing to rain, we still linger and drag our feet. Often because we believe we have invested or committe too much to change location. Some of these nudges and even ‘forceful evacuations’, are executed through big heartbreaks or disappointments.

These may seem to be intended to hurt us, but like Lot, they are only a show of God’s mercy because of his interest in the future He knows but we cannot see. Beloved, God might forcefully smuggle you out of a contract, a commute, a relationship, or an investment. You won’t understand it and you will lose something. But mind you, it might be the only way you escape with your life. Don’t just get angry when some things are lost, God knows why He has to force your hand on some occasions.
