A LIFE HOARDED

DAY 183

The homily at Mass today had some deep statements that warranted a bit more pondering. The one of interest today was:

‘A life hoarded is an answer lost’

We are all afraid of losing, and because we are so afraid of this loss, we hoard things: our relationships, our resources and even our very lives. The sad thing about this is whatever you hoard, is likely to go bad – it is only a function of time. In our fear, we end up locking up all the reserves God has deposited in us so that both ourselves and the world, its intended beneficiaries, miss out.

Your life is a sum of your gifts, your words, your attitude, the  questions you bring answers to, the paths you pave. Thus, even though you are loaded with so much, but you can live without leaving any imprints if you hoard your life. I said a prayer at Mass today, a prayer  you can make your own too:

'Father,I want to leave this earth having maximised and expended all that has been deposited in me for my generation'.

In essence, this will mean pushing yourself past barriers of mediocrity, growing up to spiritual, physical, emotional, financial, and social maturity. It will require following in the leading of the Holy Spirit and allowing God to make you the best version of you.

When you set yourself ablaze, people will come and watch you burn. Your impact and influence commands the attention of men because what you have inside, is for the world. So would you burn out or will you rust out?
